You’ve probably already seen it on Bluesky, but we have just launched a store that features clothing based on our books.
After a lot of research, we went with Teemill for our merch. We currently have the free version, which limits us to a set amount of products and keeps some products out our reach. The paid version is £10 a month, and we intend to get that as soon as we can.
Teemill was selected for sustainability reasons. They are a print-on-demand company that power their factories with renewable energy. They don’t use any animal parts in their products (Rebel Wrath is vegan). They use GOTS certified organic cotton, and their products are designed from the start to be returned to them at end of life and recycled into new products, creating a circular economy. They deliver to over 100 countries. They also use sustainable packaging.
The cotton they use comes from India, where monsoons fill the reservoirs it needs to grow. The cotton is grown without the harmful chemicals in pesticides a lot of modern farming uses. The usable fibres become clothes, whilst the seeds are used to feed cows.
They have a closed loop water recycling system to dye their clothes: the water isn’t released into local waterways to pollute the environment. Dye particles removed from their recycled water are reused for road markings.
All of their clothes are plastic free. They also have a barcode that can be entered into Teemill’s recycling website, giving instructions on how to return it. Return shipping is free, and customers receive a discount on their next order for every return.
