What’s this about protest art?

Rebel Wrath (in trans flag colours) Activism through art (in black) Become a rebel today (in black) on a purple background that looks dirty and stained, grungy

Protest Art has a long and amazing history. Michelangelo’s David was a protest against the Medici family. Protest art challenges authority in ways they cannot easily denounce. This is why the right always seeks to ban books, because they cannot argue against our words.

Our mission is to build a community of trans people and allies, to challenge institutional and societal transphobia, to subvert expectations in literature and politics, to raise awareness of the issues faced by trans people, and to amplify the voices of trans creators. We stand in rebellion against the governments, corporations, and bigots that seek to silence us, to ban our books, to revoke our rights, to commit societal genocide upon us.

And maybe make some of you laugh along the way.

How do you feel? Lost? Alone? Despondent?

Community is the solution to your loneliness, action the antidote to despair, and at Rebel Wrath we’re sharing a path for those who are lost.

Honestly? We don’t think that matters at all. Maybe nothing will change or maybe everything will change but Rebel Wrath will have nothing to do with those changes. We might even see Trump start WW3 with Narnia before we all get nuked to hell.

Action is the antidote to despair, and we don’t want to hole up in a bunker shitting ourselves and sobbing as dragons destroy the world.

Take action with us. Make art. Protest. Make protest art.

Protest art: no image, just text. There's a MOMENT where you have to choose whether to be silent or stand up. Mala Yousafzai. Pakistani activist for female education.

No one is really qualified for this. There’s no degree in activism. There’s no career path towards this. Those famous activists you can quote were just ordinary people who chose to stand up for their rights.

You won’t find any listed qualifications, but just living as trans is an act of defiance.

If you want to know what Caledonia Fife has done, they’ve been involved in Pride and BLM marches and women’s rights protests and they’ve led campaigns for tran’s rights.

And none of that makes them qualified. They’re still just a person trying to do the right thing and determined to stand up for their rights and for the rights of others like them.

That’s okay. It’s a difficult time. Some of us have more against us than others: some live in places full of danger, with people who only love us because they do not know us, with no way to escape and it’s all they can do to survive.

People have no money to spare, no time to give, are in desperate need of aid.

One day, when Rebel Wrath is profitable, we will help those who need it. For now, we’re helping in other ways. Check out our links, there are some for aid, that might help you out. You’re still part of the community, even if you have nothing to give.

Things will get better for you.

This is not the time for whispers. Be proud, be loud, be full of wrath.
