We can exclusively report that Michael Doherty, CEO of Allanwater Co, has been given a private jet for his daily commute to the office. This follows the example set by Starbucks, who last year gifted a private jet to their new CEO.

Doherty, 54, who lives just 2 miles from Allanwater Co HQ, has said it’s very inconvenient because the nearest airport is 10 miles from his home. “My driver has to take me to the airport then wait around whilst the pilot takes me up. We fly circles for half an hour or so, and then land and my driver has to drive me the 12 miles to my office. It’s made me late a few times, too, waiting to land if the airport is busy.”

Private aviation contributed at least 15.6 Mt CO2 in direct emissions in 2023, or about 3.6 t CO2 per flight. When asked about the impact of his commute on the environment, Doherty shrugged. “My commute might be awkward for me, but it creates a lot of jobs.”
